A defining moment of the AIDF Tanzania First Anniversary Humanitarian Impact Programme was the official launch of the Executive Blood Drive Programme at Dar es Salaam Serena Hotel on 15 August 2026.
The programme was formally launched by Mr. Oscar Kissanga, Secretary/Executive Director of the Tanzania National Chamber of Commerce (TNCC), in the presence of senior representatives from government, diplomatic missions, the private sector, healthcare institutions, development partners, civil society and other stakeholders.
In his keynote address, Mr. Kissanga emphasised that voluntary blood donation is not solely a health-sector responsibility. It is a community responsibility, a leadership responsibility and an expression of social solidarity
AIDF Tanzania CEO & Managing Director, Mr. Joel Temba, reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to moving beyond one-off campaigns towards a sustainable culture of voluntary blood donation across workplaces, businesses, communities, universities and institutions.
The Executive Blood Drive therefore marks the beginning of a broader journey.
Following its launch, the programme is envisioned as a platform that can engage leaders, institutions and communities across regions and councils of Tanzania, with the aim of strengthening executive participation in voluntary blood donation and humanitarian action.
The Guest of Honour further proposed that the programme’s national journey should begin with Mtwara opening an important conversation on how executive leadership can be translated into sustained regional action.
