On 13 and 14 August 2026, the Mother & Child Blood Drive 2026 brought the humanitarian agenda directly to the community at Buliaga Grounds, Temeke
The objective was clear: mobilize voluntary blood donors, strengthen awareness and contribute to the availability of safe blood for patients whose lives may depend on timely transfusion.
Through the collective efforts of community members, volunteers, health professionals, partners and participating institutions, the campaign successfully mobilised 63 units of blood during the two-day community phase.
The programme also provided free health screening and health education reinforcing AIDF Tanzania’s approach that humanitarian action should respond to communities through both life-saving intervention and preventive health awareness.
This was more than a blood drive.
It was a demonstration that community participation can become a measurable humanitarian resource
From Temeke, the message moved to the executive level.
Because saving lives begins wherever people are willing to act.
