Strengthening Volunteer Leadership Through Regional Philanthropy and Knowledge Exchange
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania | 30 September – 1 October 2026
Africa Initiative Development Foundation (AIDF Tanzania) was represented at the East Africa Philanthropy Network Forum, held at Protea Hotel Dar es Salaam Courtyard, bringing together actors from across the philanthropic and civil society ecosystem for dialogue, learning and exchange on the future of philanthropy in East Africa.
The participation provided AIDF volunteers with an opportunity to engage in a regional platform exploring the role of philanthropy in advancing social impact, strengthening partnerships and building more effective institutional systems.
For AIDF, participation in such spaces forms part of its broader commitment to developing a generation of volunteers and emerging leaders equipped with knowledge, networks and practical exposure to the institutions and conversations shaping sustainable development.
The Forum created space for participants to examine how collective action can move beyond individual initiatives towards stronger institutional mechanisms, partnerships and shared responsibility.
AIDF volunteers participated as learners, representatives and contributors—reflecting the Foundation’s approach to volunteering as a pathway for leadership development, professional exposure and meaningful civic participation.
Building Leadership Through Exposure
AIDF recognizes that leadership development does not take place only through formal training. It is also built through exposure to diverse perspectives, professional networks, institutional dialogue and opportunities to take responsibility.
The participation of AIDF volunteers therefore represents more than attendance at a regional forum. It is part of an intentional effort to create opportunities through which young professionals and community-minded individuals can develop the confidence and capabilities required to contribute to stronger institutions and communities.
“Volunteer engagement is not simply about giving time. It is about building capacity, taking responsibility and creating pathways through which people can contribute to lasting social impact.”
AIDF extends its appreciation to Mr. Alex, Ms. Aneth Lymo, Ms. Salama and Ms. Hellen A. for representing the organisation with commitment and professionalism.
